  2. Writing Pieces

  3. About: Trail in Life • Weakest piece of writing • Many ideas, but not great flow • Fit all information • Miss anything • Birthday, religion, traits, family, sports, favorite things, experiences, ect.

  4. Why I Choose It • It was my worst piece of work. It showed how far I came from starting the course, until now. • My mistakes were evidence that I became a better writer. • Thought it was a great writing piece when I passed it in. • Realized I was going to have to work hard after receiving my mark back.

  5. How It Came To Be • Everything important in my life • Choose most important • Wrote, and rewrote my beginning paragraph • Wrote rest of rough draft • Edited story • Peer edited • Fixed all mistakes to make good copy

  6. Over all of my fifteen years of life, it has been eventful. I’m always busy doing something. There are times when I wish I could have nothing to be responsible for, but I always realize that’s who I am, and I wouldn’t change it. It has made me a more mature, and dependable person. I hope I continue to grow and learn for many more years to come.

  7. Trail in Life

  8. Feedback • First Copy: • Corrections • Awkward phrasing • “This is good Emily. But missing a conclusion and there is no reflective part.” • Second Copy: • Little mistakes • “Better!”

  9. About: My Music History • Best piece of work • Better flow • Relation & connection • Thoughts & feelings • Personal piece • Grandfather, CFCY, choir, piano, country music, inspiration, ect.

  10. Why I Choose It • My best effort went into this piece, and the results showed. • I loved how my story all came together. • I always love first paragraphs and I thought it was my best beginning in all of my writing.

  11. How It Came To Be • List of whatever came to mind • Analyzed how it could come together • Wrote beginning paragraph couple times • Wrote rest of rough draft • Edited story • Peer edited • Finalized good copy

  12. Music has the ability to overcome our emotions. We get lost in the melody, and suddenly our reality becomes a fantasy. Notes, phrases and lyrics possess our minds. We no longer think about our problems. We imagine driving down back roads, dancing with our friends, flowers blooming, relationships ending, and love beginning.

  13. Feedback • “Wow awesome intro.” • Lots of checkmarks • “Excellent essay”

  14. My Music History

  15. What I learned from Writing 421 • Use commas with caution. Don’t overdo it. • Write out a number if it is a double digit. • Be more specific when talking about something. • Try phrasing things differently. Don’t always write ordinary. Be creative. • If you think it sounds awkward, then change it. • Keep the length of your sentences reasonable.
