  2. 2011-2012District Highlights GCISD’s 2011 NCEA Higher Performing Schools recognized Four GCISD schools - Colleyville Heritage High, Colleyville Middle, O.C. Taylor Elementary and Timberline Elementary -have been named to the 2011 National Center for Education Achievement Higher Performing Schools List. According to the NCEA, schools on the list consistently have more success in preparing students for college and careers than their peers that serve similar student populations. In Texas, only 10% of schools are identified as Higher Performing Schools by the organization.

  3. 2011-2012District Highlights Elementary school named to honor roll GlenhopeElementary School has been named to the Texas Business &Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll for 2011, the most prestigious award for sustained, academic excellence in Texas. Glenhope is one school out of 8,000 in Texas that will be honored. The TBEC Honor Roll recognizes schools that have demonstrated three years of consistent, high performance in all subjects compared to other schools serving similar student populations.

  4. 2011-2012District Highlights Retired teacher receives Humanities Texas Award Melissa Lamprich, former social studies teacher at Colleyville Heritage High School, recently received the 2011 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award. Each year Humanities Texas recognizes twelve exemplary teachers of history, literature, foreign language, government, social studies and other humanities in Texas elementary, middle and high schools. Lamprich retired in May after 19 years of teaching with 17 of those years in GCISD.

  5. 2011-2012District Highlights Students recognized for academic achievements Twelve GCISD students were recognized nationally for their academic successes: John Bolaji, CHHS, and Danielle Whyte, GHS, were named National Achievement Scholars. Evan Chavez, Nina Smith, Kylie Smith and Sasha Rios, CHHS, and ClariseFischbauch-Ballesteros, Nicole S. Bueno, Isaac Melendez, Madison M. Monteiro, Diego Montesdeoca and Matthew J. Rodriguez, GHS, were named National Hispanic Scholars.

  6. 2011-2012District Highlights GCISD celebrates fourteen National Merit Semifinalists Thirteen GCISD seniors have been named 2012 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Ten attend Colleyville Heritage High School and three attend Grapevine High School. GCISD’s National Merit semifinalists are part of an elite group of students that represents fewer than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

  7. 2011-2012District Highlights The Cross Timbers Middle School Honors Band and Heritage Middle School Men of Heritage Choir are sharing a piece of excellence as both groups have been named “2011 National Winners” in the Foundation for Music Education’s Mark of Excellence Project recorded music competition. The contest recognizes the top musical ensembles from middle, junior high and high schools across the nation. The CTMS Honors Band is under the direction of Asa Burk and the HMS Men’s Choir is under the direction of Julie Ann Allen. HMS and CTMS ensembles earn top honors in national competition
