  1. How To Choose Continuing Professional Development in Australia Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a requirement for all Australian lawyers. CPD can cover a number of different areas, including ethics and professional responsibility, practice management and business skills, and substantive law. These requirements can be met through live seminars, publication of legal articles, or participation in interactive online learning modules. There is a separate CPD scheme for solicitors and barristers in NSW. Solicitors in the state are entitled to claim one CPD unit per hour of work or study, and are required to accumulate ten CPD units per year. These lawyers CPD requirements are set forth in Rule 6.1 of the Legal Profession Uniform Continuing Professional Development (Solicitors) Rules 2015. Completion of the CPD scheme is a prerequisite for renewing practising certificates. New Best Practice Guidelines aimed at preventing vilification and harassment are also being discussed. The upcoming event will discuss the revised guidelines, which are

  2. aimed at eliminating the harmful practices that can result in client injury or death. This seminar will be presented by Hearsay. Continuing Professional Development is an important part of any lawyer's career, as it enables lawyers to expand their knowledge and skills, improve their performance, and network with their peers. Australia's premier CPD provider, Hearsay, was established in 2007 and offers a range of CPD programs for lawyers. NSW bar association CPD requirements require barristers to maintain a record of their CPD activities. This record is used to show compliance with the rules of the Association. Lawyers must submit their records within 21 days of receiving a notice. To do this, barristers can use LawCPD, a free online service. The service provides a personalised page for each barrister, which records their learning and the CPD points they earn. The MyCPD page is also easily printable and can be presented to the NSW Bar Association in the event of an audit. In addition to establishing a record of CPD activities, lawyers must complete at least 10 units of mandatory continuing professional development activities each year. A typical CPD year is from April to March and must be completed within that period. If a lawyer fails to meet the requirements, he or she may be subject to disciplinary action. Hearsay also offers a wide range of programs that cover all major practice areas. These include programs on criminal law, privacy, intellectual property, practice management, and advocacy. Each of these courses can contribute to a lawyer's

  3. overall skill development. This makes it easier for lawyers to meet their CPD requirements, particularly those who are unable to travel. Contact Us Call Us: (02) 8313 6590 Mail Us: enquiries@htlp.com.au Website: https://htlp.com.au/
