  1. Year 6 Residential: 16th Oct – 18th Oct 2019 • PGL @ Marchants HillSurrey

  2. Day of Departure: • Wednesday 16th October 2019 – Friday 18th October 2019 • Pupils Arrive at school with their luggage by 5.30am • The Coaches will leave school at 06.15am • Pupils arrive @ Merchants Hill at approx 8.30am

  4. Accommodation • Pupils will either be in rooms that sleep 4 or 6. • Girls and boys dorms are in separate areas. • 10pm curfew / Nightly patrols • Pupils need to take responsibility for their rooms / belongings AT NO POINT WILL ANY CHILD BE LEFT ON THEIR OWN IN THEIR ROOM

  5. Hygiene • Daily Showers • Roll – on deodorant • Keep room and en-suite bathroom clean and tidy • Toiletries

  6. Preparing Your Child • Tying shoe laces • Tidying up after themselves • Using a knife and fork • Showering / washing long hair

  7. Mealtimes • First meal will be lunch on the day that we arrive, after completing 2 activities • 3 meals a day • Always a vegetarian choice / Halal meat available • Fresh soup / self serve salad bar available for lunch and dinner

  8. Daily Routine • 07.00 – Rise and Shine • 08.00 – Breakfast • 09.15 – 12.30 – 2 Activities with a 15 min break • 12.30 – 14.00 – Lunch • 14.15 – 17.30 – 2 Activities with a 15 min break • 18.00 – 19.00 – Dinner • 19.30 – 21.00 – Evening Activity • 21.00 – 21.30 – School Activity/ showering etc. • 22.00 – Lights out

  9. Activities • 19 Activities over the 3 days • The children will be in groups of 10-11. • Staff member and trained PGL staff with each group at all times • They will be told their groups the week before the trip- they will need to look for the teacher whose group they are in on Wednesday morning when they arrive so that teacher can check attendance.

  10. What to bring • Enough clothes for 4-5 days • Towel for wet activities / showering / waterproofs etc • Clothing should be suitable for the outdoors – no designer clothes! • Ensure that you have long sleeved tops and trousers as t-shirts and shorts will not be appropriate for most activities. • Hairband for long hair • Black bags for wet / dirty clothes • LABEL ALL CLOTHES • Put clothes for specific activities into carrier bags, labelled with the activity they are for. • Footwear – 2 pairs of trainers for activities; footwear to wear indoors • Disco - TBC

  11. What to bring continued…. • Bedding – Sleeping bag and pillow • Toiletries • Drinks bottle / small rucksack / small torch • Woollen hat / Gloves • £5.00 ONLY in a labelled envelope or purse – handed to the group leader in the morning of departure NO mobile phones

  12. Medication • All prescription medication needs to be labelled with child’s name and group letter • All medication should be placed in a zip lock bag, labelled with child’s name, group and group leader name. • Handed in to the group leader on the morning of the trip

  13. Snacks • Please send NO more than 3 snacks with your child such as cereal bars, mini cheddars, flap jacks, chocolate covered biscuits etc. Any extra snacks or unhealthy snacks will be confiscated and not returned.

  14. Rules and Sanctions Children will be expected to: • Follow all the rules of the centre. • Be on their best behaviour at all times. • Listen to and showing respect to all adults. • Follow the instructions closely at each activity. - This is especially important as it is a ‘Safety Issue’. Failure to do so may result in you missing an activity or in an extreme case, parents being called to come and collect you.

  15. Rules continued… • Respect your peers personal property and space. • Respect the other schools that are there at the same time. • Keep your belongings and room tidy. • You are responsible for your belongings and actions. • 10pm Curfew – Repeated infringements will result in children missing an activity. • No electronic games • No mobile phones. • No Jewellery except stud earrings - Watch only

  16. Updates… • You will receive an email/text from the school office every day at approximately 4.30pm. • You will receive a text on with our expected arrival time back at school on Friday 18th October.
