  4. Reporting (ii) • Templates & guidance – Your strand manager will supply you with all appropriate reporting templates. Links to useful guidance given at the end of this presentation. • Issues and Achievements – if things aren’t going to plan, say so, say why, and say how you are handling it. If you need help, say so, it is not failure, its just truthful reporting! Likewise where things are ahead of schedule, or working really well, say so, or your strand manager might not know about it. • Budget reporting – you should forecast whether you have over- or under- spent in each reporting period and agree any changes to your budget with your strand manager. Strand managers would rather see you use resources effectively than be faced with a big budget variance at the end of the project. • Staffing – you should always report on any changes in staffing, or significant periods of absence.

  11. Media Support • People who can support you: • Karen O’Rourke HEA Karen.ORourke@heacademy.ac.uk • Maike Bohn JISC M.Bohn@jisc.ac.uk • Your own press office We can help with news angles, advice on news releases, interview techniques, selling in stories

  12. Joint Working • Joint boilerplate The Higher Education Academy and JISC are working in partnership to develop the HEFCE-funded Open Educational Resources (OER) programme, supporting UK higher education institutions in sharing their teaching and learning resources freely online across the world. Building on the work of a pilot which took place between April 2009 and March 2010, a second phase of projects and activities is now running until August 2011. This phase will extend the range of materials openly available, document benefits offered by OER to those involved in the learning process, and promote collections of OER materials. Such resources might include full courses, course materials, complete modules, videos, assessments, tests, simulations, worked examples or software. • Prepare your own boilerplate

  13. Joint Branding • Are you updating your website to reflect your OER involvement? • It is a funding requirement to include partner branding (HEA and JISC) on your website • The joint boilerplate is useful background information and can also be used in reports as an introductionary paragraph

  14. BIS Guidelines on Advertising and Marketing • Guidelines limit the use of paid-for marketing and advertising • This could include leaflets/videos etc if paid for • Doesn’t include news releases • Follow your own institution’s policy
