  2. Music • Iraqi music is also known as the music of Mesopotamia. • Iraq is recognized mainly for three instruments named Oud, Iraqi Santur and Joza. • The roots of modern Iraqi maqam can be traced as far back as the Abassid Era, when a large empire was controlled from Baghad.

  3. Customs and traditions • Their main language is Arabic. • Iraqis consider family and honour to be of paramount importance. • Families hold their members responsible for their conduct, since any wrongdoing brings shame to the entire family. Loyalty to the family comes before other social relationships, even business.

  4. Religion • Muslim 97%, Christian or other 3% • “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest) was added to the flag. • Its position in Iraq went through a transition during Saddam Hussein’s regime. • The majority of Iraqis are Muslims regardless of ethnicity.
