  1. Nothing But the Truth A Documentary Novel By Avi

  2. TWO Questions: • Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? • Does anyone say no?

  3. Nothing But the Truth Group Presentation • Form a group of 3-4 people. Create a class presentation from the following scenarios:

  4. 1. Pretend Philip and Miss Narwin are before the Board of Education defending their reputations and citing their accounts of what really happened. Refer to the events in the book such as Philip’s suspension or Miss Narwin’s “forced” sabbatical.

  5. 2. Choose a form of media (radio show, talk show, reporter on location) to portray the “fight for truth” surrounding the novel. Group members can take on the roles of characters and/or guests or callers.

  6. 3. Extending a scene- Extend the last scene by creating more dialogue between the characters involved. Think of how Philip adjusts to his new school; how his parents are feeling; the state of Philip’s friendships/reputation; Miss Narwin’s leave of absence; the media’s role, etc.

  7. REQUIREMENTS: *Class presentations**Typed copy ofscript/dialogue
