  1. Nothing But the Truth Make a foldable and use to staples to secure the foldable. Make sure your name is on the backside of the paper.

  2. Flap 15-6 sentences • Describe the relationship between Phillip and Ms. Narwin. Give an example of a time you didn’t get along with a teacher or “like” a teacher. Next, give advice to a student on how to survive a year when things aren’t going well with a teacher. Make a thinking map below your response showingthe cause and effect of making the best of a situation.

  3. Flap 2 • What do you think Phillip’s parents should do about his lack of motivation and finger pointing. How can a parent motivate a child to change their attitude and make it through a rough time? Do you think his parents are helping or hurting the situation? Explain in 5-6 sentences while connecting to self, text and society. I want you making deep inferences here!

  4. Flap 3 • Determine a theme of the story and write about it in 5-6 sentences through Phillip’s point of view. Use the character elements on page 35 in your ISN to describe Phillip and analyze his character. Use the text to support your analysis of his behavior. Explain his reactions to how this story is growing, does Phillip have a responsibility To end this?

  5. Flap 4 • Why was Phillip being so stubborn in the situation. Relate this to your life and a time where you could have made things easier by doing the “right” thing. Analyze the reaction of his parents. Explain what you think about their reaction. Again relate to text, self, society, etc. This is a 7-8 sentences response.

  6. Flap 5 • How did the media “run with this story” and affect the outcome of the situation? Use evidence from the text to answer when and how this got out of hand? Why do you think the media was so intrigued by this story? Do you think the media should be held accountable for their actions? Explain how this whole story ‘snowballed’. How does this happen in your life with gossip?

  7. Flap 6 Pretend Philip and Miss Narwin are before the Board of Education defending their reputations and citing their accounts of what really happened. Refer to the events in the book such as Philip’s suspension or Miss Narwin’s “forced” sabbatical. This should be completed in 10-12 sentences as you are using evidence from the text to complete this. When and where did this all go wrong?
