  1. Post-Apocalyptic Genre The post-apocalyptic world is an important and common setting. How does it influence the story?

Characteristics of Post-Apocalyptic Genre • a sub-genre of speculative fiction • concerned with the end of civilization due to a catastrophic event such as • nuclear war -pandemic, • impact event -cybernetic revolt, • supernatural phenomena - resource depletion • some other general disaster • set in a world or civilization after such a disaster • focusing on the travails or psychology of survivors • often takes place in a non-technological future world, or a world where only scattered elements of technology remain. However, this may not always be true. • genre gained in popularity after World War II, when the possibility of global annihilation by nuclear weapons entered the public consciousness.
