Sense perception. Sense perception is how we understand things from how we perceive things. Riker makes Data to bend the metal. Therefore they saw that data bent the metal because if humans can’t bend metal then if Data bent the metal then he is therefore not a human.

Sense perception Sense perception is how we understand things from how we perceive things. Riker makes Data to bend the metal. Therefore they saw that data bent the metal because if humans can’t bend metal then if Data bent the metal then he is therefore not a human. The same applies when he switched off Data because humans do not have an on and off switch.
Emotion Emotion is used quite a lot in the episode. Picard showed that Data was human because he had a intimate relationship with Natasha and the emotional attachment that Data had towards the book that captain Picard gave him and the medals that he had acquired
Reason When Captain Picard said that for one to be sentient they have to have the following characteristics -self-awareness -Consciousness -Intelligence Data had all these things, therefore it was right to say that Data was sentient
Language When Ricker talks about Data string being cut as a reference to pinnochio it is a good use of language because it creates the image that Data is not his own person but instead being controlled by someone else.
