  1. National Junior Honor Society What is this club all about?

  2. What qualities are important in the National Junior Honor Society? • Character- positive character qualities including honesty, respect, courtesy, etc… • Scholarship- a good student • Leadership- being a good example • Service- volunteering to help out other students and community members • Citizenship- demonstrating good behavior in the classroom and life in general

  3. How long has NJHS been around? • NJHS has been a nationally recognized program since 1929 • It is currently established in public and private schools in all 50 states, as well as 70 other countries!!!

  4. Why Join? • MEET GOOD FRIENDS; students who really care about getting good grades and other students who will be positive influences on you!!! • HELPING PEOPLE; making our school and community a better place!! • LOOKS GREAT on a resume, and colleges love to see NJHS/NHS on your school records!! • Have Fun!!!

  5. NJHS in schools • Students who are in NJHS are the true leaders of the school!! • When schools and NJHS partner up great things happen; studies show that 97% of the “Excellent Schools” in the U.S. have clubs such as NJHS!!!!!! • Students who get involved in clubs, such as NJHS, meet more friends and feel more pride in their school.

  6. Awards/Certificates • Awards will be given to members based on achievement in the areas of service, academics, and citizenship!! • Work hard, do good and be rewarded!!!

  7. So what does it take? • A minimum of 3.5 GPA consistently through every semester • Outstanding citizenship in all classes • Commitments to meetings, 15 service hours each semester • A willingness to be a school leader

  8. What now? • Begin completing your application packet • Turn in completed packed to Mrs. Savage in the Library • 7th and 8th grade candidates will be notified by Wed., Oct. 29th. • *6th graders being considered for future membership will be notified by Wed., Oct. 29thof their honorary status and might become members in January. *According to NJHS rules and regulations, 6th graders cannot be official members until after the first semester of the school year. Official membership of 6th grade members will be announced January 23rd.
