  1. Book Response Project Due on December 10, 2012 Book choice due on Thurs. November 8th.

  2. Steps to complete: • Pick a narrative story to read from the book list you researched. • Get the book. • Return a parent signed book slip that tells the title and author of your book choice, and the project you will be completing. • Read the book, taking notes of important information you might use in your final product.

  3. Project Choices • Character Journal • Song Lyrics • Crossword puzzle • Art Sample (diorama, sculpture, painting, etc. ) • Character Trading Cards • Comic Strip * Each book also needs to have a summary included with each project.

  4. Character Journal Write a diary with at least 8 entries. This should be from the perspective of a main character from your novel. Place them in sequential order from the story. (Each entry must be 3 to 4 sentences in length.) Include on the cover: • _________"s Journal • Title of the book with author • Your name and period/number On back of cover: • Typed summary of your book

  5. Song Lyrics Select an existing song and write new lyrics that reflect elements of the novel you read. Your selected song must be at least 1 minute in length, so no "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". Be sure to include: • The lyrics on a printed page. • On the back of the lyrics sheet, a summary of the novel with title and author included. You do not need to include the actual music, but it would be great if you did! It could be a file link, a cd, a mp3, or however else you could share the song.

  6. Crossword Puzzle Create a crossword puzzle based on the novel you read. This can be created on a computer, or by hand. Be sure to include: • The book title and author at the top • At least 14 clues. • An answer key on another copy of the puzzle. • A summary of the story on the back of the crossword.

  7. Art Sample Represent the book read in an artistic mode, such as a diorama, sculpture, or mural. Your piece must include: • A written summary of the story. • A written explanation of the elements from the story that your piece represents. • The title and author of the book.

  8. Character Trading Cards Create cards for at least 3 characters from your story.. Each card should include: • information on the front and back • A colored picture of the character. • Include name, nickname, assumed height, weight, age, and eye/hair color. • Describe the character's traits, skills, hobbies, friends, notable quotes, or other information that shows who the character is.

  9. Cartoon Strip Make a comic strip with at least 6 frames, that retells some event from the story. Be sure to include: • the title and author of the book • a colored product • a clear sequence of the events • expression or conversation in speech bubbles • a summary of the story on the back of the comic.
