Other areas to highlight: - Nursery Care Giving: We have opportunities to help with caring for kids birth to 2 years. Membership not required. - BCC Cherry Festival Booth (see next slide)

  7. I. Our Need Everyone struggles with communication regardless of how it appears.

Our Need Ephesians 4:25-32 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 ‘‘In your anger do not sin” a: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. We are given every resource we need to speak through Christ. 2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence. Ephesians 3:20-21 20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Hope Ephesians 1:15-23 15 For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spiritof wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

  20. Thoughts of application Examine your communication with others this week. Was it built on the solid foundation that Christ has established for us? For example:1. Do you humbly admit your inability and seek the Lord’s help before important times of communication? (power/riches)2. In your primary relationships, are you seeking to accomplish with words what only the Lord can do by his grace and power? (power/riches)3. Do you fall prey to hopelessness so that you either give up speaking when your words are needed or give in to patterns of sinful talk? (hope) 4. Are you willing to admit your communication weakness, recognize reoccurring themes, confess to God and those you have offended, and commit to new patterns of talk? (All of this is based on embracing Christ’s promise that his strength is made perfect in our weakness.) (power) 5. Are you able to humbly consider what others point out as sin in your talk? Or do you deny, rationalize, turn the tables, shift blame, or wallow in your failure? (rule)6. Do you daily thank the Lord for his provision, and the hope it gives that you can speak in a way that blesses others and glorifies God? (hope) Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
