  5. The Candidate Some of their HOPES ! Able to complete the programme. That the qualification will mean something. That they will be able to progress further. That it will help with promotion at a future date.

  6. John Cavin Hygiene Operator As a Trade Union Rep, I felt that as well as a personal learning opportunity, it was also a good chance to support the Company and promote further learning for everyone.

  7. The Candidate Some of their FEARS ! That they wouldn’t be able to do it ! Will I get sacked if I fail the test ? What will happen if I’m asked a question and I don’t know the answer ? I’m frightened with all the paperwork ! I’ve never done anything like this before !

  8. Mandy Goldstein Process Checker I was a bit scared at the start, I found the Assessors from Motherwell College nice and friendly and I now feel a lot more confident.

  9. Belle Barclay Line Leader Nobody needs to be frightened from doing their SVQ in food and drink. Excellent idea, and a bit of refresher training does not do any harm.

  10. The Candidate Some EXPECTATIONS ! Treated like a human being by Assessors Recognised as an individual, not a number. Doing something that is worthwhile. Having this qualification should mean something if I apply for promotion.

  11. Linda Brown Instructor I only enrolled for the glass of wine and the buffet at the Graduation day. I honestly think that this is something everybody should do. I take my job as an Instructor seriously and I can hardly encourage any new staff to do their SVQ if I haven’t done it myself.

  12. Cathy Black Line Leader Quite simply, a great idea. Everybody should support it and encourage others to enrol.

  13. A surprise candidate ? MYSELF ! Why at 58 did I enrol with Motherwell College ? Why not ! I believe that age should not be a barrier to learning ! You also have to lead by example !

  18. Introducing the future Joyce Hughes Travelling Oven Operator I want to learn as much as possible. I didn’t enrol the last time which was a big mistake and one which I regret. Gaining a a qualification and learning more about your job is something we should all be doing.
