  2. Lesson Objectives • Students will organize information by exploring different representations (verbal, concrete/pictorial, tabular). • Students will compare/contrast the efficacy of different representations through the use of a Venn diagram.

  3. Problem George and Sam want to buy their mother a birthday present next month. George has saved 18 dimes and Sam has saved 22 nickels. The brothers agree to take a coin out of their savings each day and put it in a piggy bank for their mother’s birthday present. Each brother will take one coin from his own piggy bank and put it into his mother’s birthday present bank. One day, after they had been doing this for a while, they looked into each other’s piggy banks. They saw that Sam’s bank had more money than George’s. When this happened, how many days had they been saving for their mother’s gift?
