So now what do we do?

  • - Think about Christ’s love for us
  • - Remember that Christ took our punishment and redeemed us
  • - Remember that sin separates me from God
  • - Remember that our sin caused Christ to die for us
  • - Repent from my sin and try to stop it
  • - Confess my sin to a priest

The Passover lamb:

Christ Our Savior

passover lamb

Tenth plague

What happens to the Israelites?

Blood of a perfect male lamb

When God’s angel sees the blood he would pass over that house.

The “Passover” became a day that was to be celebrated each year to remember God’s Salvation. The Israelites crossed from slavery to freedom.

They were saved with the blood of the lamb.

Passover Lamb

Who does the Passover Lamb point to?

"For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”

(1 Corinthians 5:7)

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

“He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth.” Isaiah 53:7

Was a Lamb

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

Our Lord Jesus was without blemish“knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” 1 Peter 1:18-19

Perfect Lamb with no defect

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

It was slaughtered on behalf of the sinners to redeem them

“The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

Its blood was put on the two side posts and the upper doorpost to save the firstborns of the Israelites from death

The blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross purifies us from all sins and saves us from eternal death

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

The lamb was roasted over fire on two crossing wooden rods

Jesus was lifted up on the Cross

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

When Jesus was on the cross “the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who were crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.” John 19:32-33

They did not break any of its bones

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

The entire household had to eat from it, not leaving any leftovers to the next day

We all have to eat His body and drink His blood. After He died, Jesus’ body did not remain on the cross

Passover Lamb

Our Lord Jesus Christ

On the cross, Jesus redeemed us and gave us a new life.

We passed from the bondage of sin to freedom.

By His blood we were saved.

We passed from death into life.

To commemorate passing from Pharaoh's slavery to freedom and the start of a new life

So what do we remember?

Who can give me an example of why the Passover Lambpoints to our Lord Jesus Christ?

(Similarities between both…)
