  8. Trenches and Excavations If you are excavating it can result in Cave-ins and falling objects are hazards in these areas. Sometimes if there is a peace of pipe that might have septets on the pipe and it could make a very hazard or environmental disaster.

Warnings related to trenches and excavations Never work on the face of either sloped excavations or excavations in which concrete slabs were used to flatten the surrounding area at levels above other workers. The workers below you may not be adequately protected from the hazard of falling, rolling, or sliding materials or equipment.

Employers are required to have programs to control entry to and hazards in both types of confined spaces. Never work alone in a confined space. OSHA requires an attendant to remain outside a permit-required confined space. The attendant monitors entry, work, and exit.
