Brianna is making 3 batches of muffins, and Elva is making 4 batches. • Sketch a representation (diagram, table, or number line) that shows the situation in the problem. Label as much as you can. • What is the meaning of each of the following equations in this problem situation? • 3 • ¾ = 2 ¼ • 4 • ½ = 2 • (3 • ¾) + (4 • ½) = 4 ¼ • How much milk do Brianna and Elva need altogether?

  5. Problem 3 • Miss Morman and Miss Morris are trying to determine who has the larger tutorial space. Miss Morman’s space is 10’ by 8’. Miss Morris’ space is 12’ by 7’. Whose space is bigger and by how much? • Sketch a diagram. • Write an equation. • Write the solution as a complete sentence.
