Disposal of Biohazards, Bioethical and biosafety issues. • Unit-II • Basic Techniques, Desegregation of Tissue and Primary Culture, Maintenance of a Culture and Cell line, Standardization of parameters, like temperature, CO2 pressure, alteration in media composition, serum and serum free media, Characterization and measurement of Viability. • Unit-III • Cell culture characteristics, scale up methods for propagation of anchorage dependent and suspension cell culture, concept of Bioreactors for mass culture of mammalian cells, microcarrier culture. Cloning and Selection, Transformation of a cell culture, Development of tumor cell line, Culture of Specific Cell Type, Specialized Techniques: including hybridoma cells, epithelial cells etc. Culture of Poikilothermals, Bioreactor Designing • Unit-IV • Tissue culture, Organ culture, whole embryo culture, tissue engineering; including artificial skin, cartilage, etc., hormone controlled cell line development and application of various growth factors like ILGF, PDGF, hGF. Various application of animal tissue culture, like viral studies, metabolite production, IVF and ET in human and in cattle etc., entrepreneurship in animal tissue culture

Animal Tissue Culture: Definition • “in vitro growth & Maintenance of animal cell/tissues/ organ” is known as animal tissue culture. • Tissue culture is used as generic term to include organ & cell culture • Cell culture: culture derived from dispersed cells taken from original tissue, form a primary culture, or form a cell line or strain by enzymatic or mechanical or chemical disagreegation.
