  3. Mae C. Jemison • Mae C. Jemison was born on October 17, 1956 • She was the first African American to go to space. She was also , a doctor , a surgeon and she has practiced engineering skills witch makes her a good astronaut. • Mae C. Jemison is still alive today. She is a perfect roll model for little girls .   4. Madame C.J. Walker • Born: December 23,1867 • She started her own beauty salon in 1905. Her first product was scalp treatment .She made the straightener comb. • Died on May 25,1919 Enchantedlearning.com

  6. Barack Obama • Birth date: August 4, 1961 • Why this person is important: he was born in Hawaii,44th president, won Nobel peace prize. • Barack Obama is still alive. Enchantedlearning.com

  7. Aaron Douglas • Born May 26, 1899 • He was an artist for many years. Aaron was called the father of African American art. He taught in a Kansas school then taught with Winold Reiss because Winold was inspired by his art. • Aaron Douglas died in 1979. Google.com

  8. Malcom X • Birth date:1925 • Why this person is important: He thought the opposite off Martin Luther King Jr. • His dad died when he was six years old • He lived in a foster house • He got assassinated • He died in1965

  9. Rosa Parks • Birth date:Febuary4,1913 • Why this person is important: She did not give up her seat to a white man. • She was black American. • Mrs. Parks and her husband Raymond moved to Alabama. • She died on October 24, 2005 at the age of 94 Enchantedlearning.com

  10. Jackie Robinson • Born on January 31,1912 • First black man allowed to play major league baseball • April 11 he played is first major league baseball game • He played with the Dodgers for 10 years • Died: October 24 , 1972 Enchantedlearning.com

  11. Matthew Henson • Birth date Agust.8,1866 • He was an African American. • The first man to go to the North Pole. • He went to sea when he was twelve. Enchantedlearning.com

  12. Jesse Owens • Born: Sept. 12, 1913. • He was a famous runner, he won 4 gold medals, he was one of the fastest runners. • He died in Mar.31, 1980. EnchantedLearning.com
