  1. SCC20 2000-1Test DescriptionSub-Committee

  2. SCC20 99-2 Meeting Review • Constructed first Draft of whole standard: 1. Scope 2. References 3. Definitions 4. Structure of ATLAS 2000 5. Carrier Requirements 6. Test Procedure Layer 7. Basic ATLAS 2000 Components Annex A - TTFs Annex B - SMML

  3. UK Meetings (1) • Held five working group meetings: • Circulated the Draft A A2K standard • Incorporated comments received • Focused mainly on defining the Basic ATLAS 2000 Components • Several approaches adopted from tabular to ‘independent’ OOD/formal • Examined methodology for describing signals within the Basic Component layer and use of combiners and conditioners

  4. UK Meetings (2) • Developing relationships for the signals based on: • Pure (relate to SMML) • First Order (simple Nouns e.g. AC signal) • Second Order (more complex e.g. Modulated Signals) • Recognised distinction between Electrical and Physical signals • Investigated relationships between UK derived Basic Signals and SMML • Reviewed relationships of the A2K Layer Diagram

  5. UK Position (1) The CCB agreed the following to be the collective UK position to present to the SCC20 2000-1 Meeting: • Present the work conducted to date on the Pure Signals • This is incomplete until: • mapping of the attributes of the Pure Signals is completed • all of the First Order Signals have been identified and defined • all of the signals have been mapped to SMML

  6. UK Position (2) • It is considered that the SMML requires updating and enhancement • Physical signals are recognised to be less straightforward than the electrical signals. • Recommend that the SCC20 Meeting concentrates on the electrical signals and the physical signals are attended to only if there is time at the meeting or on return to the UK. • The approach adopted seems fairly robust in its handling of compound signals.

  7. UK Position (3) • The levels previously defined in the "layer diagram" have been revised such that the Basic Component and TTF layers have been interchanged, i.e. the TTF is dependent upon the Basic Components. • There is a need to complete the mapping of the attributes of the Pure Signals but this cannot be completed until all of the First Order Signals have been identified and defined.

  8. UK Proposals for SCC20 2000-1 (1) • The Architecture Working Group should rework the Basic Components section of the draft standard to incorporate the inputs since the SCC20 99-2 meeting, giving particular consideration to how qualifiers (functions, conditioners and combiners) are handled • The SMML section should be updated and enhanced to provide support for the Basic Signals work undertaken since the SCC20 99-2 meeting

  9. UK Proposals for SCC20 2000-1 (2) • Work should commence on the TTF section, mapping out priorities and the way ahead for covering the IEEE Std 716-1995 capabilities, albeit not necessarily mapping on a one-for-one basis • Prepare an updated draft of the Standard for circulation and comment by the end of the SCC20 2000-1 meeting (or shortly thereafter)

  10. UK Proposals for SCC20 2000-1 (3) • Discussion of the format of the Language Neutral Definition to be adopted to define signal interfaces. If appropriate, the chair should clarify the position with IEEE on the use of MIDL in the Standard • The sub-committee log archive should be reinstated and updated

  11. SCC20 2000-1 • And so to work...

  12. Signal Statements WG Activities • Worked on Time Related / Event support for SMML • Continued with Structure of Signal Classes • Decision to define a set of ‘super’ signals for main body of standard • Assigned definition of these to members • TTFs composed of these classes to achieve 716-95 ATLAS capability

  13. Digital Signal WG Activities • Met with DTIF as part of examination digital ATLAS Deficiencies - timing • Continued to Progress Bus Testing and other Issues

  14. New Proposals WG Activities • Pulsed Load

  15. General Developments • Grouping of lower three layers - Signal Description Language • Test Procedure Layer - Test Specifications • 716-95 Supplement • UK Interim in November • Reflector / Web-site / PR issues
