INTRODUCTION·      1992 NUSAG G-24 on behalf of G-7 defined the urgent measures on nuclear safety improvement in the countries of Central, Eastern Europe and CIS:·       Development of nuclear safety regulation regime·       Improvement of operational safety·       Short-term technical modernization of nuclear facilities based on safety assessment EC Exploratory Mission made 43 recommendations upon directions of Russian Regulatory Authority activities·      Program of co-operation of RF Gosatomnadzor with EC within the frame of Tacis Program. ·36 Tacis projects for Russian Regulatory Authority were completed or under development.

CO-OPERATION AREAS·Methodological assistance to RF Gosatomnadzor/Rostechnadzor coordinated by the international Regulatory Assistance Management Group (RAMG) ·Support of RF Gosatomnadzor/Rostechnadzor activity rendered in collaboration of the Russian and Western-European technical safety organizations (TSOs)

СURRENT STATUS OF TACIS PROJECTS IMPLEMENTATION «2+2 Approach TSO s support to Rostechnadzor in the licensing of NPPs modernisations «Enhancement of Russian TSOs Capabilities» Tacis project RF/RA/06: «Institutional support to the Nuclear Safety Authorities of the Russian Federation to develop their regulatory capabilities on the basis of transferred Western European safety principles and practices” has been started since May 2005
