  2. What maths will you use to choose a sports team?

  3. This is a BOX PLOT The distance between the two ends.... The Median is the line in the box Is called the Range

  4. If we know the Median and the range of some data we can use the information to “Guess” what we might expect. This is called “Interpreting Data”.

  5. You have to choose the team for sports day. There are some simple rules to remember..... 1. No athlete can do more than 2 events 2. Every athlete MUST do one event 3. The athletes cannot do two events that start at the same time

  6. You will get a sheet of statistics for your team members....

  7. ... And also a starting sheet to complete as you decide who you want to be in which event.

  8. Make sure you USE A PENCIL because you will change your mind!!!

  9. We know Eric has a range of 10 seconds for the 200m and his “average” is 34 seconds. Fred on the other hand has a range of 6 seconds and an “average” of 36. Who do you think will win?

  10. The results will be displayed and you can see how your athlete performed compared to the other athletes. You will need to record the points your athlete got in the race/discipline in the space provided. At the end of the task races will be run.

  11. 34 events means the perfect score would be 850 points 1st – 25 points 2nd – 20 points 3rd – 17 points 4th – 15 points 5th – 12 points 6th – 10 points 7th – 8 points 8th – 6 points 9th – 5 points 10th – 4 points 11th – 3 points 12th – 2 points 13th – 1 point As there are 13 boys and 13 girls in your team points will be awarded like this.....

  12. The winning team is the team with the highest aggregate number of points gained.

  13. Bob gets you 10 points in here If you Chose Bob for the Spacehopper race you could not have him running the 400m nor doing the Triple Jump. Bob 10 The Spacehopper result….. 1st – Gary 98.34 sec – 25 points 2nd – Sidney 100.02 sec – 20 points 3rd – Albert 103.56 sec – 17 points 4th – Harry 111.23 sec – 15 points 5th – Jack 118.18 sec – 12 points 6th – Bob 121.65 sec – 10 points

  14. And finally………….. Get racing!!!
