  2. History & Mission • Founded in New South Wales in 1988. • Queensland’s office opened in 1999. • To brighten the lives of all seriously ill and hospitalized children throughout Australia.

Distractive Therapy Programs • “Looking after a child with a chronic or life threatening illness requires a comprehensive ‘total’ approach to care, a healing environment that includes entertainment, diversion, fun, laughter and joy. Starlight is a key partner in providing these aspects of care” Professor Les White Executive Director, Westmead Children’s Hospital

  4. Captain Starlight • Sole purpose is to bring smiles to sick children by distracting them from their illness and pain and engaging them with unique skills, companionship and entertainment.

  11. Livewire • New initiative developed under a subsidiary livewire.org.au. • Safe and fun online community for young people living with serious illness or disability. • Developed to assist other Not for Profit organisations to help their members through the online community.

  14. Volunteers • Most valuable resource. • Each year over 4000 people lend their support on Starlight Day. • Essential to the success of Starlight.

  15. Fundraising • Do not receive any government funding for core services. • Rely on support from individuals, corporations, community groups, special events, cause-related marketing promotions, and in-kind support of both goods and services.
