  2. What does it mean to be healthy? • To be ACTIVE • To have GOOD NUTRITION • Contribute to a POSITIVE Social Environment

  3. Being Active • You should be active a MINIMUM of 30 minutes a day • You can go for walks, go on bike rides, skateboard, play soccer, hockey, dance, etc.

  5. Benefits of Being Active • Being ACTIVE is FUN! • Being ACTIVE is GOOD exercise for your heart and lungs • You meet NEW friends and get to hang out with your FRIENDS.

  6. Good Nutrition • Remember to eat from all FOUR food groups • Remember you can eat ALL types of food, but to eat in moderation • Make GOOD food Choices

  7. Good Food Choices • Choose MOST OFTEN • Choose SOMETIMES • Choose LEAST OFTEN

  8. FOODS to Choose MOST OFTEN • These are the BEST types of foods. • They are the MOST healthy and give you all the RIGHT types of nutrients

  9. FOODS to Choose SOMETIMES • These are foods YOU CAN still eat. • But you should only choose them SOMETIMES

  10. FOODS to Choose LEAST OFTEN • Junk Food should be chosen LEAST often • You can have it ONCE in awhile, NOT all the time.

  11. Portion Sizes • Keep your meals REASONABLE size. • YOUR plate should NOT be heaping full. • Make sure you are eating ENOUGH fruits and veggies. • Eat until your are FULL, not stuffed.

  12. Positive Social Environment • EVERYONE likes to hear a positive comment. • WE need to try and be more positive with each other. • Be a “BUCKET FILLER!” • Make them overflow with POSITIVES!

  13. Healthy Schools Initiative • Practice HEALTHY LIVING • Look for ways to make your SCHOOL a healthier place • Go out and get ACTIVE • Make good FOOD CHOICES • Be part of a POSITIVE social and physical environment
