  1. What's inside the pc system? What are the main parts of the CPU? What does the ALU stand for? What does it do? What is the function of the system clock? How much is one gigahertz? What type of memory is temporary? What type of memory is permanent and includes instructions needed by the CPU? HW CAN RAM increased? Done by: ms.Hanan Albarigi

  2. Computer system consist of tow parts Hardware: Any electronic part that u can touch and see Software: Is a set of instructions , calls programs which tell the computer what to do Central processing unit peripherals Main memory output Storage devices input

  3. Processing 1-It’s the nerve centre of A PC. 2-Its called the CPU ( Central processing unit) 3-Its built into a single microship 4-excute program instructions. 5-coordinate the activities of all the other units

  4. The processor consist of three main parts CPU REGISTER C.U A.L.U

  5. 1- control unit: Examine the instruction in the users program Interprets each instruction 2-Arithmetic logic unit ( ALU) Performing mathematical calculations and logical operations (AND,OR,NOT) 3- Register Are high speed units of memory used to store and control data A- pc ( program counter) Keeps the track of the next instruction B- IR ( instruction register) Holds the instruction

  6. System clock Sends out signals at fixed intervals to measure and synchronize the flow of data. Clock speed is measured in gigahertz (GHz) For example a CPU running at 4GHz ( four thousand million hertz)

  7. Terms • System Clock: Sends out signals at fixed intervals. • Clock speed is measured in Gigahertz. • Expansion Slots: Allow users to install extra hardware. • SIMMs: single in-line memory modules. • DIMMs: Dual in-line memory modules. • Motherboard: Refer to the main printed circuit board. • Bios: Basic input/output system.

  8. What are the main parts of the CPU? What does the ALU stand for? What does it do? What is the function of the system clock? How much is one gigahertz? What type of memory is temporary? What type of memory is permanent ? CAN RAM increased?
