  2. Charecters • Kino (main character) • Jiya (Kino's friend) • Kinos parents • Jiyas dad • Setsu (Kino's little sister) • Old Gentlemen (king-ish ruler)

  3. Setting • This story takes place in Japan. Kino lives on a farm ,on a mountain ,above the ocean and the fishing village (where Jiya lives).

  4. Plot ( so far) • This story is about a boy named Kino Who lives on a farm and works hard. His best friend is Jiya who fishes with his dad. They go to school in winter and work in the summer. Sometimes Kino and Jiya swim out to the island and explore. On the island the king-ish man the called The Old Gentleman lives there. One day when they’re on the island Jiya is staring at the ocean angrily and Kino asks why he is doing this.

  5. Plot continued • Jiya and Kino have and conversation about the ocean. Jiya thinks that there is a sea god that makes waves and controls the ocean. Kino doesn’t understand but later they swim back to their houses. During dinner at Kino's house after the food is served Kino asks his father “why is Kino afraid of the ocean?” “the ocean is very big no one knows its end.” his father replied .Then Kino says “I am happy we live land there is nothing to be afraid of.” His father sys later people can be afraid of land as well, like the volcano that Kino had visited earlier that year. Kino under stands.

  6. I Think • I think that the volcano close by will erupted and cause a tsunami. Jiya will think its what the sea god did. Kino will think that its because of the volcano but they will forget about their believes and still be friends.
