What is Service Learning?. StFX Service Learning is considered the pioneer for Service Learning in Canada. Service Learning is an innovative way to integrate experiential learning, academic study, and community service. Immersion Service Learning (ISL).

Agriculture Sector: organic farms, collective farms, organiponicos

Focus: Introduces participants to rural Grenada and economic,
social and cultural life of
this tiny Caribbean island

Breaking the Silence
Focus: Community development, peace building after years of civil war, Fair Trade coffee, human rights, and the Mayan culture
Small rural coffee farms, school project

Host: L’Arche Ottawa
Focus: Living and working with adults who have developmental disabilities and those who wish to share life with them
Living and assisting in L’Arche homes in Ottawa

This course engages the student in a major research project on a topic related to their immersion experience.
