  1. JESUS IsALL Savior – Healer – Baptizer - King

  2. Baptizer Jesus immerses us into the power of His Spirit!

  3. 28“And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. Joel 2:28–29

  4. The following Scriptures define the Baptism in the Holy Spirit through the evidence of speaking in tongues: • Acts 2:1-4 • Acts 10:44-47 • Acts 19:1-7 • Acts 8:15-18 (Not specifically said, but implied based on language in other examples) Acts Demonstrates Spirit Baptism

  5. 4And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:4-5, 8

  6. 1When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4

  7. 44While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, 47“Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” Acts 10:44-47

  8. 1And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. 2And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” 5On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. 7There were about twelve men in all. Acts 19:1-7

  9. 15who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16for he had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit. 18Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money, Acts 8:15-18

  10. Questions people have asked me about Spirit Baptism • Doctrinal • Is it salvation or after salvation? • Is speaking in tongues the only initial physical evidence? • What about the effectiveness of non-Spirit baptized believers? Questions about Spirit Baptism

  11. Questions people have asked me about Spirit Baptism • Practical • How will I know I’m not faking it? • Is it a real language? • Am I still going to be in control? Questions about Spirit Baptism

  12. Pentecostals have an uncanny dependence upon the Holy Spirit • Dependence means we rely whole-heartedly and trust in the Spirit • Pentecostals also express a desperation for the Holy Spirit. • When other avenues may be presented to us, we still seek the Spirit first and foremost and always! What it Means to Be Pentecostal

  13. Come Expecting a Move of God in you and in our church. • Pentecostals prepare themselves for the moving of the Spirit. They eagerly desire Him and His gifts. • They place the most value on the Spirit being the leader and integral Person of their lives. • Pentecostals should be surprised when they don’t see God’s Spirit move! How to Practice Pentecost

  14. Pentecostals have an open heart toward the Spirit and His ways. • We seek the Spirit not because He is safe, but because we cannot live in God’s presence without His working. • We are not afraid of the flesh, but rather turn ourselves over to the Spirit for His cause and will. We would rather correct acting in the flesh than quench the Spirit’s move! How to Practice Pentecost

  15. Pentecostals practice discernment in the Spirit and in His moving among people. • There are some who err in the realm of spiritual matters and allow either a desire for God’s moving or a desire to divide. • It is up to the leadership of the church to use God’s discernment to determine when someone is not following the Spirit’s leading. • This must be done with love and encouragement, for we need the Spirit’s gifts in operation! How to Practice Pentecost
