IMPORTANT THINGS YOU • SHOULD KNOW • CONFIDENTIAL • Your responses on the census form are completely confidential - not even the President • of the United States can access this information.  • EASY • Ten questions, Ten minutes • REQUIRED • Once every ten (10) years by law • IMPORTANT • Determines the representation in Congress as well as assists the state in how • Legislative districts are drawn and  apportioned • Determines educational grants, road rehabilitation, programs for the elderly, • head start programs, planning for hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, and the location of • other health services.  • Determines the amount of unemployment compensation received per person in this area • SAFE • Census workers MUST pass security and employment reference checks.

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU • SHOULD KNOW (cont’d) • The Census WILL NOT ask for Social Security Number. • If you fail to return the questionnaire, a census worker • will come to your house.  So, it is important to • complete the census form and return it by the United • States Postal Service. • Last Important Item - “Don’t be fooled, BEE Counted” • because “It’s in our Hands.”

  11. IT’S COMING…! CENSUS 2010! Remember to watch for your forms around mid-March. The deadline to get your form in is April 1, 2010!
