  2. World Religions Project Quotation: “Even though religions may look so different, in reality they are really very similar.” You will be agreeing or disagreeing with this quote. I think we’ll find that you can answer the question both ways, so you will have to decide what is your perspective.

  3. Question: Are the world’s religions more similar than they are different? • Choose which opinion you hold: • The world’s religions are more similar than they are different. • The world’s religions are more different than they are similar.

BODY PARAGRAPHS • Use your body paragraphs to give specific evidence/proof that your opinion is correct. • Give your evidence. • Use the T – I –E – D structure for your paragraphs. • Each paragraph should address a specific component, feature, topic and idea of each of the two religions. • What does T – I – E – D stand for?

BODY PARAGRAPH • T – Topic Sentence: and are similar/different because… the thing that you are comparing . • I – Introduce Evidence/Context (According to the research, studies…) • E – Evidence/Supporting Details (The document shows…, It’s proven…) • D – Discuss Evidence (As a result of…, This was interesting because…, This shows…)

  13. BODY PARAGRAPH • Work on your T – I – E – D outline for your two body paragraphs that PROVE your thesis.

COUNTERARGUMENTBODY PARAGRAPH • Use your counterargument body paragraph to give specific evidence/proof that YOUR opinion is correct by taking a paragraph to consider the opposing opinion. • Give evidence for the opposing viewpoint. • Use the T – I –E – D structure for your paragraphs. • The paragraph should address a specific component, feature, topic and idea of each of the two religions that fits the opposing viewpoint.

  15. COUNTERARGUMENTBODY PARAGRAPH • Your THESIS • What is the opposing argument? What is the thesis that is OPPOSITE of your thesis? • What evidence can you find to PROVE that argument? • Why is your argument (thesis) evidence strong than the evidence of the opposing argument (thesis)

  16. COUNTERARGUMENTBODY PARAGRAPH • Work on your T – I – E – D outline for your counterargument body paragraph that PROVES your thesis by addressing the opposing argument.
