  2. Birth & Death • His full name is James Earl Carter Jr. • He was born in Plains, Georgia on October 1, 1924 • First President born in a hospital • Has not died yet • He is 87 years old

  3. Early Life • He once bought five huge bails of cotton for 5 cents a pound, later he sold them for three times the original price • His family grew up with no electricity or running water

  4. Schooling • He went to a public school • He also went to the institute of technology • He went to a Naval academy to study nuclear physics

  5. Professional Life • He was a peanut farmer • Went to fight in world II • Took very strong environment stands • Pushed for human rights • He was a woodworker

  6. Political Journey • He was a democrat • Governor of Georgia • Georgia senate

  7. Know for as President • He insisted on be called Jimmy • Only president who got the Nobel Peace Prize after leaving office for his untiring effort • He was very funny • He was honest

Key Events during Presidency • 52 hostages were taken in Iran then released on his last day of office • He was concerned about the economy he insisted people use less power • He made a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt Egypt Israel • Mount St. Helens erupted in Washington state killing 60 people
