What is the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna? • To empower the people in the lower income group (LIG) to have a home of their own, Shri Narendra Modi, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna or PMAY in June 2015 with the objective of providing affordable housing to all.
Facilities under the PMAY scheme • Under the PMAY, the Government will offer affordable pucca houses with water facilities, sanitation, and round-the-clock electricity supply to people belonging to the eligible income groups.

PMAY scheme for Mid Income Group People belonging to the middle-income group can also take benefit of the scheme and are divided into two slabs- • The Middle Income Group (MIG) - I will include households with an annual income from Rs. 6,00,001 up to Rs. 12,00,000. • The Middle Income Group (MIG) - II will include households with an annual income of Rs. 12,00,001 up to Rs. 18,00,000.
Eligibility for PMAY scheme The eligibility conditions are as follows: - • The family should not own a pucca house in his/her name or in the name of any family member in India. • A married couple, either of the spouse or both, in joint ownership, will be eligible only for a single subsidy benefit. • The family should not have availed government assistance under any other housing scheme from the Government of India or any benefit under any scheme in PMAY. Hence, anyone earning an annual income of up to Rs.18 lakh can avail the benefits of the PMAY scheme, provided he/she fulfills the eligibility conditions.
