Thomas A. Blakelock High School Thomas A. Blakelock was a prominent citizen of Oakville who served the community in a variety of roles. He came to Canada in 1906, founded a lumber company with his brother. While a resident of Oakville he held the positions of Councilor, Deputy Reeve, Reeve and Mayor of Oakville. He served as a Liberal MPP from 1929-1944 and was Building Commissioner for the Oakville Board of Education, personally overseeing the construction of T.A. Blakelock High School in the mid-fifties. He died in 1974 at the age 91

Graduation Requirements TOTAL: 30 credits (18 compulsory and 12 elective): 4 credits in English (1 credit per grade) 1 credit in French as a Second Language 3 credits in Mathematics 2 credits in Science 1 credit in Canadian Geography 1 credit in Canadian History 1 credit in the Arts 1 credit in Health & Physical Education 0.5 credit in Civics 0.5 credit in Career Studies GROUP 1 - 1 additional credit in English, French, OR Native Language, OR a Third language, OR Social Science OR Canadian and World Studies OR Co-op GROUP 2 - 1 additional credit in Health & Physical Education, OR the Arts, OR Business Studies OR Co-op GROUP 3 - 1 additional credit in Science (Grade 11 or 12) OR Technological Education (Grades 9-12) OR Co-op
In Addition… • Successful completion of Grade 10 Literacy Test • 40 Hours of Community Involvement • Can start the summer prior to grade 9

Academic vs. Applied Credits Talk to your Teachers. Follow their recommendation. They know your strengths and weaknesses. You (and your family) have the final say. You can choose a mix of Academic and Applied courses. It is possible to move from one level to the other between grade 9 and grade 10. Math – you need an upgrade
