What are appropriate topics to email my professor about? • If your question cannot be answered by a classmate. • If you have a question about an assignment due after the next class session. • If you have a question or comment related to the course material. • If your professor accepts assignment through email

DO . . . • Use your college e-mail when e-mailing professors: CMU username@mavs.coloradomesa.edu • Include your class name and section number in the Subject line (for example, ENGC 090-005). • Use an appropriate greeting such as “Dr.” or “Professor” and then their name. • Thank the professor for his or her time and consideration in responding to your e-mail. • Keep your tone positive and professional. • Be specific. • Proofread your e-mail before you send it, using spell and grammar checks.

  8. Do Not . . . • Don’t use slang, text message abbreviations and acronyms. • Don’t use all upper case letters – implies that you are shouting. • Don’t use too many exclamation points.
