Re: Lecture Format YES YES balancingact YES YES • Do more work, especially problems, on the whiteboard. • More problems. "Notes and theory on handouts, but examples on the board." Leave fill in the blank sections in the lecture handouts. • "Too much technical information given in class" "Too many big technical words" • "Notes too wordy" • Announce the Handouts 2 or 3 days ahead • More frequent references to the corresponding pages of Lathi in the class notes • Some commented that notes made in advance and overhead really works for them as they can then just put their full attention into "understanding and following the lecture" - instead of scrambling to try and get notes down.
Re: Final Exam YES YES YES YES: “2hr exam with 3 hours time” • A review sheet before the final • Detachable formula sheet • Strong majority prefer closed book exam • A majority prefer a "standard" formula sheet • Make exam time reasonable
Re: Web Site YES, done YES: volunteer? Reworked • News and updates section right at top of home page • Website could have a discussion board • Better ordering of links at the web site.
Re: Marked vs Unmarked Assignments • On balance a majority in favour of non-marked. (with many thoughtful discussions on this.) • Many re-assured me that although they may not stay on schedule without marks, they are sure to get all assignments done before the exams.
Re: Mid-Term What are the expectations of “sameness”? fair enough, good comment • "Mid-term not like past mid-term or assignments" • "The format was not the same" • Don't remark the whole exam as the policy…makes people afraid to turn in.
Other Please pass these on. YES • "Lathi book has many mistakes in it" • Notes package should be availableas a full package with the EE club or bookstore
