  3. For You Newbies • What is unitedstreaming? • A standards-based digital media library with over 5,000 full-length videos plus other cool stuff • Resource that has been scientifically proven to increase achievement • In other words…One Cool Tool!

  4. Getting Started • Georgia Public Broadcasting makes unitedstreaming free to Georgia Schools • In order for them to keep funding, they must show usage • To get to unitedstreaming, go to www.gpb.org

  8. Customizing Your Homepage • There should be a welcome message to you in the upper left corner • Click on: My Account (top right) • Click on: My Homepage (top right) • Click on: Customized • When you are finished, Click on: DEstreamingat the very top

Searching unitedstreaming • 4 Main Search Tools • Keyword Search PLUS “Within” • Full video, segments, audio, speeches, clipart & so much more! • You can use Boolean Operators (and, but, or & quotation marks) • Subject & Grade Search • Curriculum Standard Search • Advanced Search • Editable Titles (can use in movie software) • Classic Titles (made before 1990) • Many with Closed Captions

  21. Hyperlinking & Embedding • Hyperlink – link to video in file • Benefit-can pause, stop, etc. • Downside-slower, must wait for download • Embed – clip shows directly in powerpoint (or other)

  23. Activity- Hyperlinking & Embedding • Find a video clip you like and save it to the desktop • Open Powerpoint • Hyperlink your clip • Find another and embed • USE HANDOUTS & PEERS TO HELP • NOTE: When doing this “for real” be sure to save all clips & presentation in same folder

  24. Integration • Simply show full video/clip • Put clips into powerpoint or other multimedia presentation • Download clips to a flashdrive for use in a learning center • And so much more!!!!!!
