  1. Directions • Get with a group of 3 or 4 • Discuss questions 1-6 from Friday and the new questions in the next slide • After discussing, formulate the BEST RESPONSE POSSIBLE from combining all of your answers/thoughts • Have the person with the BEST HANDWRITING record your BEST ANSWERS on a sheet of paper and turn it in • The group with the best answers get extra credit

  2. Additional Review Questions • Define the gradient, discharge, and channel shape of a river. Describe how they factors affect the velocity of a river. • The Fox River is just below flood stage right now.  Since there have not been changes to the channel shape or gradient, explain what is most likely causing the high level of discharge. • Oswego has some of its land in the floodplain. What should we do to reduce the possibility of flooding out the old lumber yard and the playground in downtown? Give at least two examples of things we could do to prevent flooding and explain how these things would reduce the chance of floods • Suppose a region near a large river experiences a drought for a long period of time. Predict the effect of the drought on the amount of material that the river carries in suspension.
