  1. School-Wide Title I Plan Annual Parent Meeting Maywood Public Schools February 8, 2018

Definition of Title I: • Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. • Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. • Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

  3. Maywood Public Schools operate a Title I Schoolwide Program.

  4. Schoolwide means: • The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. • Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. • Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

  5. To be a “Schoolwide” School: • The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40%. • The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. • The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

Maywood Public School has established school-wide goals based on assessment results from NeSA-R, NeSA-M, NeSA-S, NeSA-W NWEA MAP testing and using this data to make corrections and/or improvements to our instruction. The school district is focusing its professional development in these areas for this school year: Professional Learning Communities, Marzano's' Framework for Effective Instruction, NWEA MAP data, Reading and Write Tools for improved Writing instruction. The money allocated for professional development within Title I, as well as local funds, will go toward the commitment. The district will also focus on writing instruction by continuing with staff instruction of writing using the Write Tools, Improving Literacy Instruction, in service.

Maywood Public Schools will continue to develop the professionalism and pedagogy of the teaching staff through the facilitation of the Professional Learning Communities model, in partnership with ESU 15 and also through sending teaching staff to state and national conferences. The district continues to use student performance data in evaluating student learning and in decision making concerning instructional materials. Specific goals for each student are developed at the beginning of each school year designed to aid students in the development of accountability for their own learning. Students also use Compass Learning in reviewing and extending their learning through individualized practice four days a week.

  12. Parent Involvement Policy 5057 Parental Involvement In the Title I Program Available: online at www.maywoodtigers.org Or Upon request from the Office of the Superintendent where a copy will be made available.

  13. School-Parent Compact The Maywood Public School’s School-Parent Compact is available in the Student-Parent Handbook or a copy will be made available upon request.

  14. Parent’s Right to Know – Student Achievement School families will be provided progress information concerning their child/ren upon request or during scheduled Parent/Teacher Conferences.

  15. Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers • The Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 gives parents/guardians the right to get information about the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teachers. Upon request, Maywood Public Schools will give parents/guardians the following information about their child’s classroom teacher: • Whether the teacher has met State qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction. • Whether the teacher is teaching under an emergency or provisional teaching certificate. • The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher. You may also get information about other graduate certification or degrees held by the teacher, and the field of discipline of the certification or degree. • We will also, upon request, tell parents/guardians whether their child is being provided services by a paraprofessional and, if so, the qualifications of the paraprofessional. The request for information should be made to an administrator in your child’s school building. The information will be provided to you in a timely manner. Finally, the District will give timely notice to you if your child has been assigned, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet the requirements of the Act.

Right to Request Meetings • Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. • The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
