  2. Time - if you are running out of time, Bob thinks it is better to move to onto the next question. This is because it is easier to get the first few marks in a new question as it is to get the last few marks on a question you are stuck on. You can also list or plan an answer, marks will be accredited. CAUTION: only to be applied if you are stuck or pushed for time! SPaG– can be there to be support you in securing the grade you need. It is worth 4 marks per paper. Bob reckons; weak geography + well written sentences = marks & no excuse! Revise– obviously so just do it, geography is easy if you prepare yourself. Show off!

  4. The structure of all the exams will have questions that get progressively difficult. The examiners call this incline of difficulty. Identify specific phrases for each command or buzz sentences as well call it. Identify key words for longer questions such as case studies and four mark questions and above. Don’t fear if a five mark question appears, this just MORE SPECIFIC DETAIL AND DEVELOPMENT OF YOUR POINTS.

  5. Higher Tier – welcome to 9 mark questions, only applicable for Unit 1. They will usually start with the command: Examine – you need positives/strengths and negatives /failings of a management imitative or effects, good/bad. Discuss– you need to show you know both sides of the argument. Comment on – say what you see with a little explanation of what is happening, supported with SLD. All of these commands will require you to weigh up and show that you are aware that because something is good in one place, it does not necessarily mean it is good everywhere. You will also need to locate a named example to access the higher marks. Look at possible key phrases on the next page to exemplar these commands.
