Radiation Reliability in HL-LHC Converters: Current Status, Lifetime, and Failures

This presentation reviews the current status of converters in radiation areas at the LHC and the HL-LHC projects. It includes an examination of radiation levels, radiation lifetime/failure estimations, and ongoing/planned projects. The focus is on radiation reliability, excluding electrical failures. Existing converters and developments outside radiation areas are not included.

  10. Conclusion R2E designs available in LS2 comply with the HL-LHC availability requirements Planned HL-LHC60A & HL-LHC120A (WP6B): Initially supposed to be Rad-Tol power converters. At the same time replacement addresses aging of equipment. Radiation levels are 10x lower than foreseen but still requiring rad-tol design (ΦHEH>1E7) Estimations of radiation levels have huge impact on HL-LHC on-going and future projects
