  2. Introduction Recycling Definition Recycling is the process of taking materials (waste) and using all or part of them into new products for conserving the environment. Recycling Symbols

Recycling History • Stems from efforts in WWI and WWII to reuse valuable materials • Many people unsatisfied with landfills of 1930s and 1940s and anticipated future problems • Businesses explored areas of financial incentives (most notable soft drink cans) • Green movement “exploded” in 1960s through 1970s. • Conservationist began producing credible data

  4. The most important benefits of recycling 1- Financial Income: Families can earn money from recycling electronics, glass, paper and metals. Especially in communities with pay-as-you-throw programs. 2- Recycling Job: There is a relationship between recycling job and the quantity of recycling. The total employment increases when increasing the tons of waste.

  5. Benefits of Recycling (cont.) 3- Recycling boosts the economy: Recycling has a huge impact in our economy in creates jobs, builds more competitive industries, energy cost reduction and recourses conservation.

Project Design • Project design: • Investigation of world wide recycling practices and economical benefits • Survey sent to participants on more than 3 continents and multiple countries • Results collected and analyzed • Allows for comparison of recyclingpractices across the globe.   8. Methods • Online survey creating a survey about investigation of world- wide recycling practices. We use two methods of delivery the survey: * Email message: we sent a link to our respondents so that they can access the survey and answer. * Facebook: we posted a link of survey on Facebook so that anyone can access the survey and answer. the Facebook help us to connect with other people who are from different countries.

Conclusion • Most people are willing to participate in recycling, but do so inconsistently • There seems to be inconsistency in family participation in recycling…yet almost ALL people in the survey believe it does benefit the Earth and the economy. • In many countries, recycling is not a convenient process. (i.e. not curbside) • Recycling does generate revenue for the economy. (profit exceeds expenditure)
