Australia/Economy continued • Only 6% of Australia’s land suitable for farming • Most land used for grazing sheep • Australia is the world’s leading producer of wool • 30% of the world’s total wool products • Most sheep raised around the Great Dividing Range • Sheep raised on huge ranches called stations • These ranches are examples of extensive agriculture • Extensive agriculture: agriculture that uses much of the land but small inputs of capital/labor per unit area
