  1. GHANA CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS Seven (7) REDD+ demonstration (pilot) projects have been selected across the country for implementation. Terms of Reference (ToR) to engage consultants in the following thematic areas have been finalized and no objection had been received from the World Bank. Thematic TORs for REDD+ implementation. REDD+ Strategic options Monitoring Reporting and Verification Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment Benefit Sharing Mechanism

  2. Applications have been submitted and process of short listing for interviews in progress. • FORIG has two project sites in two protected areas to measure carbon. BIOLOGICAL MONITORING • Monitoring of mammals in all wildlife protected areas • Monitoring of water birds in five coastal Ramsar sites and one inland Ramsar site.

  3. POLICY PROCESSES • The 1994 Forest and Wildlife Policy has been reviewed to consider climate change issues particularly REDD+ but does not address climate change impact on wildlife. • The Mining and Mineral Policy should address issues of climate change. • The Land use Policy ACTIONS The revised Forest and Wildlife Policy is with cabinet for approval.   4. PARCC RESULTS APPLICABILITY Collaborative mgt of corridors will need land use maps Also alternative livelihood options from socio-economic studies. BEST WAY TO ENGAGE National and local workshops by the Climate Change Unit of the Forestry Commission. PARCC national Workshops and Land use planning will be extremely helpful.
