  6. BOOKS YOU PROBABLY WILL NOT SEE IN THE MEDIA CENTER

  7. A Few Things You Can You Do In the Media Center • Check Out Books • Read • Take AR Quizzes • Conduct Research • Create Presentations • Study

  8. Checking Out Books • The normal circulation time for books is 2 weeks • Books may be renewed at any time • Reference books are not circulated without special permission • Overdue Fines are 5 cents per day • Check Out 1 book at a time

  10. WHAT ARE FICTION BOOKS? FICTION - BOOKS THAT ARE NOT TRUE ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY AUTHOR’S LAST NAME. FIC- FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE AUTHOR’S NAME. Example: Fic Pao For Eragon by Christopher Paolini

  11. WHAT ARE NON- FICTION BOOKS? BOOKS WITH FACTUAL INFORMATION. ARRANGED ON THE SHELVES BY CALL NUMBER. EXAMPLE of Call Number 004 EDE We use the Dewey Decimal System- 000-999

  12. REFERENCE BOOKS THESE BOOKS CANNOT BE CHECKED OUT OF THE MEDIA CENTER. ALMANAC DICTIONARY THESAURUS ENCYCLOPEDIA ATLAS

  14. BIOGRAPHIES BOOKS ABOUT A PERSON’S LIFE ARRANGED ALPHABETICALLY BY LAST NAME OF WHO BOOK IS ABOUT CALL NUMBER= B Was for a book about George Washington

  15. Computer Usage • PC’s are for educational purposes only (such as research, typing, etc.)‏

  16. PRINTING and COPYING • Printing text is 10 cents per page • Graphics or photos are $1.00 for color and 25 cents for B & W • Scanning graphics $1.00 • Copies are 25 cents each • No charge for printing AR scores, LE Bucks, etc.

RENAISSANCE PLACEENTERPRISE • Prizes will be available through Learning Earnings.com as well as collective group rewards each month or each 9 weeks • At the end of September we will have our first Ice Cream/Cake Party with a comedy film • First AR Quiz taken and passed of at least 5 Points=free snack • The more points you earn the greater the prize…gift certificates, ipods..etc.
