  1. How Scientists Teleport The actual science behind teleportation (inspired by Sameers awesome powerpoint)

  2. The ACTUAL SCIENCE! Yes! Scientists have been able to teleport atoms and particles! The process is very hard and isn’t likely to come to macro-sized scales too soon (maybe in about 3-5 years for grains of salt is my guess).

  3. Here is how it works…

  4. Ummm… Well, it’s complicated but all it really is, is an atom (A) sending its information to a different atom (B) that is entangled with another atom (C), so the C becomes A, because of the information sent to B.

  5. But that isn’t teleportation! That is just replacing one atom with another! Yes, but that is the same thing as teleportation. If atom A is a carbon atom and atom C is a oxygen molecule, and then you turn C into A, that means that the oxygen molecule isn’t there anymore, but instead there is a carbon molecule.

  6. But now there are two carbon atoms! A and C are now both carbon! No, not really. When atom A sent its information to atom B, it sent its only copy. So now atom A has no identity (it isn’t anything) so it doesn’t exist and it got destroyed.

  7. But if I get teleported, will I keep my memories? Will I be me? Yes! There is no difference between one carbon atom and another carbon atom with the same spin. They are the same. And since all you and your memories are, is an arrangement of atoms, your memories would be kept along with your personality. There would be no difference between you and the other you. You would be the same.

  8. To Sameer’s idea… Your idea Sameer, works, but has a few impractical parts: Instead of sending the atoms to where you are going to put back together, only send the information of the atoms. It would be faster, and you could send it by Schrodinger's Telephone. The plasma destruction would work just fine, and you wouldn’t feel a thing. With your idea, you technically would die, but you wouldn’t feel it and you would be the other you instantly. You would still be the same person.
