  1. From the desk of… Mrs. Wherritt August 2011Newsletter News You Can Use: Can you hardly believe it? The first month of school has already flown by! We have accomplished great things in just one month. Our Autobiography projects were due this week and we learned a lot about our friends when we presented them in class! We have also been working hard on Place Value and strategies for addition problems in math. In reading, we have been focusing on a different skill each week. We have studied cause and effect, drawing conclusions, compare and contrast, and sequencing! In social studies we just finished a unit on communities and have now moved on to study the skeletal and muscular systems in science. We are off to a great start and have set a high bar for achievement! Parents, please encourage your child to remain focused and complete all assignments with accuracy and excellence. Please feel free to come into the classroom to work with your child or with a small group. If you are interested please let me know. Thank you for all you do! At this point all students should be about half way to meeting their point goals for the quarter. Please encourage your child to read each night and to test on the books!
