  1. 5 Grounds For Divorce in UK There are 5 grounds of divorce for ending a marriage in UK.

  2. Adultery Adultery can be defined as a voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than his/her lawful spouse.

  3. Desertion Desertion can be defined as a willful abandonment of a spouse without any consent hence breaching the legal obligations.

  4. Unreasonable Behaviour If a spouse has behaved unreasonably, this can be presented as a ground for divorce in the court of law. However the spouse has to prove that the other spouse has behaved unreasonably and it’s impossible to live with him/her.

  5. 2 years separation with consent If a couple is living apart for continuously 2 years, then this can act as a ground for divorce with the consent of eachother.

  6. 5 years separation without consent If a couple is separated and not living together for a continuous 5 years of time, this can be presented as a ground for divorce without the consent of the other spouse. This ground can also be used if a spouse has left and been missing for at least upto 5 years.
