This update details the progress on the development program focusing on user feedback, website upgrade, data submission, and user log-on improvements. It highlights upgrades in online help, auto-upload of data in various formats, enhanced reporting, and regional groupings for improved benchmarking. The text discusses developments led by user group prioritization, such as question management, data upload automation, and notification features. It also touches on the proposed report mechanism, trigger diagram, and other ongoing enhancements aiming to streamline data processing and reporting efficiency.

User feedback on data submission Website upgrade User log-on Menu review Upgrade online help Auto-upload of data LA Reports PDFs, Excel, CSV Regional grouping Improved Benchmarking around family groups External body reports Quarterly question management by LAs Last UG meeting – development prioritisation
England user group prioritisation led to: • LA default question management • Spec developed • Auto-upload of data • Most complex to develop, not been taken forward yet • User notification on data submission • Spec developed • Reporting review and Data output for external users • Review report delivered, to discuss in break-out.
LA default question • In development: when first entering data for a period, presented with template • Template lists all questions available for all authority types • Each question has tick-box to exclude it for the period • Template saved across periods • Quarter can be rolled up when all included questions are completed • List will show whether a question is answered or not • Questions in the list hyperlink to data entry
Auto-upload of data • Most complex of development options receiving support of UG • Implementation approach will be to make specification available for external parties • Specification scheduled for development in future
User notification on data submission • Already implemented for roll-up as part of the queuing process: user receives e-mail when the quarter is rolled up • Being developed for authorisation levels: as the quarter moves up levels relevant users will be notified

Report review • Technical review carried out to find the best way of delivering reports/data from WDF. • Inputs from User groups, steering group and development team • Outcome was recommendation to expand the methods used to deliver the BVPI and mass balance reports to deliver all reports
Proposed report mechanism • Complex equations (such as BVPI) to be pre calculated (known as c-variables in the system) • Reports are in essence collection of c-variables • Layout and presentation of the data defined in a Excel spreadsheet, with data from WDF on back tab • Report selection screen allows the user to pick: • One or many authorities • One or many periods • A group of c-variables (eg BVPI 82a) • An Excel template to push the data onto
Benefits of report mechanism • Reports allow benchmarking across any number of LAs • Data in report is in Excel format and so doesn’t require re-entry for further analysis • Excel template method provides the user with control of final look and feel of the report
Other developments • The above is a review of the development items from the England user group prioritisation. • There are several other development tasks competing for time and resources driven by • Core WDF requirements • Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland needs • WDF system maintenance
