With others who selected that characteristic, discuss why you selected it and what types of things you do on your team that reflect that characteristic. August 12 3

    7. Goals Each team member will be able to describe why LIPTs are important, what they should accomplish, and what structures need to be put in place to maximize their potential. Each team will be able to set in place processes and structures that will facilitate the Local Interagency Planning Team’s ability to identify and secure services in the community to assist youth with severe emotional disturbance (SED) and/or addictive disease (AD) and their families.     11. SOC Core Values (3 C’s) The system of care should be: Child centered and family focused, with the needs of the child and family dictating the types and mix of services provided. Community based, with the focus of services as well as management and decision making responsibility resting at the community level. Culturally competent, with agencies, programs, and services that are responsive to the cultural, racial, and ethnic differences of the populations they serve. August 12 11

    24. Parent Members Whenever possible, the parent (or advocate) should be present during the entire time their child is discussed. Keep parent involved at all times. If a parent is unable to make a meeting, reschedule at a time and place that is convenient for them. Avoid “no shows” by discussing issues such as transportation and child care ahead of time. If necessary, the parent/advocate can participate by phone. Include the parent in at least some of the follow-up meetings, especially during transition times. August 12 24
